Hi!
My name is Alan Weingart.I come from Southern California and am presently a Swiss member of SCBWI.
I was raised during a period of social and political unrest. These early years have deeply influenced my writing…especially in dealing with character development in its social context. Fairness and individual responsibility are important themes, but the stories are always bathed in the magic of a child’s imagination.
,I have studied at UCLA, Temple University and the University of Geneva.
I now live in the French part of Switzerland, am married and have two children. I have practiced children’s dentistry, taught English at a high security prison near Lausanne and have written and published popular songs (registered with SUISA). I have written educational « filmstrips for the high school level while in college as well as working as an educator for blind children during two years.
Along with writing, scuba diving, piano, tai Chi Chuan and Argentine tango are my passions.
I have completed many stories, some of which have been submitted to different publishers.
As a member of SCBWI, I participate in many of their activities, including workshops, conferences and courses. I am also a member of a critique group in the Geneva-Lausanne region.
My hobbies and non-story-telling passions include:
Discovering the world, learning about different cultures and especially exchanging stories and ideas with others.
The underwater world is magic, as well as real!
Balance.
Energy.
Body and spirit.
Comrades.
