This story is based on true family events that occurred in Poland during WW II. Esther, is a personal family friend.
The effect of violent conflict on our human soul is immeasurable, as is the love of a granddaughter for her grandma, even a grandma whom she had only met in her imagination.

When Esther’s mom surprised her with a trip to faraway Poland to visit her mysterious grandma whom she had never met, her excitement mingled with unease as she faced adventures waiting for her in the shadows of the past.
In the midst of the flu epidemic one hundred years ago, a timid Japanese school girl finds a pair of rainbow-colored eyeglasses and assisting the village doctor, she strives to save her friends and family by seeing what others cannot.
Even during the flu epidemic a century ago, children coped in the same ways and with the same strengths to survive as they do today…often by using their imagination, in the context of their times, to find to find their way.
Magic and science are as much intertwined… as fear is with disease.
